10 Days on the Island
Welcome To Country Friday 1rst April 2005. Live webcast using wireless technology from outdoors at the Flinders Island Sports Club, to the The Pacific Crystal Palace on the Parliament Lawns at Salamanca, Hobart and to the world via webbing the islands.
Welcome to Country took place at the site of the hugely successful music festival Flinders Island Dreaming. Now in it's second year Flinders Island Dreaming kicked off the first weekend of Ten Days on the Island, providing invaluable workshops and master classes for local budding musicians. This event brought unprecedented opportunities for locals to show their talent and for the community to enjoy live performances from stars such as Walkabout Bob Wilson, Deniece Hudson, Ross Wilson (of Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock fame) and Torres Strait Islander Seaman Dan whose stories and songs they might otherwise never encounter.
It was a great pleasure to receive positive feedback for our contribution to the 'Webbing the Islands' Festival:
“Thank you so much for your integral contribution to the Opening of Ten Days 2005. The event was a huge success - and the webcast was well received at the Palace.” David Roberts, Program Manager Ten Days on the Island
